Brown Sugar Smokies

Yield: Serves 20
  • lots of brown sugar, perhaps 4 cups?
  • 1 lb. bacon, cut into thirds
  • 50 or fewer smokies, or small sausages
  1. Dredge bacon and smokies in sugar, then roll up smokies in bacon. Cover a plate with paper towels and place smokies seam side down on plate. Microwave on High 2 minutes. Place in 8x12"pan and bake at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes until bacon is very slightly crisp. Top with more brown sugar and broil on High 1-5 minutes, until sugar is caramelized.
This is a fabulous appetizer that will be eaten up quickly at any function.
