Applesauce Jumbles

Yield: 4 1
  • 2 3/4 c. flour
  • 1 1/2 c. packed brown sugar
  • 1 c. chopped nuts, if desired
  • 1 c. raisins
  • 3/4 c. applesauce
  • 1/2 c. butter, softened
  • 1 tsp. each of salt, cinnamon, vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cloves
  • 2 eggsGlaze Ingredients:
  • 1/3 c. butter (do not use margarine)
  • 2 c. powdered sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2-4 Tbsp. hot water
  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. In large bowl, mix all cookie ingredients (if dough is soft, cover and refrigerate). On ungreased cookie sheet, drop by rounded teaspoonfuls about 2" apart. Bake about 10 minutes or until almost no indentation remains when touched. Immediately remove to cooling rack and cool completely, about 30 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, melt butter for glaze in 1 qt. saucepan. Remove from heat and stir in sugar and vanilla. Stir in hot water until smooth and spreadable; spread over cooled cookies.
