The first time I read this book was in high school. I saw this trailer for the movie, found out it was a book series, went to the library, and checked out the first volume.

I was floored. This book exhilarated me. At the end I turned to the first page and immediately started reading it again (I've done that maybe three times ever). It was great sci-fi melded with my type of humor. At that point I would probably have said that it was my favorite book.

I've now read the book at least five times (another rarity for me). One of my biggest literary "regrets" is that Douglas Adams wrote so few books. I've read them all, save Last Chance to See, and I'm in no hurry to do so. It makes me happy to know that there's an Adams book out there that I haven't yet experienced.
